Moth Dal ( Matki/ Turkish gram/Dew Bean) Another protein rich legume, high in nutrition and low in calories! They are also great to sprout and very frequently used in popular Maharashtrian dish- Misal Pav ! My daughter love this dal because it’s texture & appearance is quite similar to Dal Makhani.

The bright red color here is from the tomatoes (no filter) that made it taste as good as it looks here.
Sharing a quick recipe below if you wish to try. Would love to hear your feedback ❀️

Soak 1 cup of Moth Dal overnight. In the morning boil it in a pressure cooker with some salt and turmeric powder for 15 min at low flame. At the same time, grind 2 tomatoes, 1 onion, few garlic cloves, 1 inch ginger and green chilli (optional) into a paste. In a pan, add ghee, when it’s hot, add some hing, red chilli powder and garam masala.Now add the paste & cook this masala till the ghee seperates. Mix daal into the masala and give it a boil. Add water to adjust consistency. Garnish it with fresh corriander and mirchi ka tadka if you wish! Enjoy with Indian bread of your choice.
